it's been nothing for long so here itis...

the God
of crossroads
understands
the games we play
stiching the lanes
like rivers
till it reaches
the old man
who paints them
in the love of
black women
singing songs
and dancing
the primitive dance
on age old
rythms
rythms of the
ancient drums...

the hindi will go something like this

chauraste(crossroads) ka ishwar
boojhta
har khel
jo galiyan khelti
mod par baithe budhe ke sath
wah,
jo rachta
pura shahar
jahan
kali auratein
gati sohar ke geet (songs sung during n after the birth of a child)
mridang ki dhaak(rythm) par
aur nachti
prem mein mugdh
bihad nach...

pata nahi kyun, hindi mein kuch theek sound nahi kar raha .. aur "rythm" hota hai ki "rhythm?

chitra said...

this is how i'd have translated it- have trie dto keep it as close to the original as poss-

Chaurahe ka ishwar
dehta hai, boojhta hai,
humaare chotte bade khel
galiyo ko, nadiyon ki tarah
ek dhaage mein pirohte hua,
ja pahunchta us sant ke paas
jo unhe rangon mein dhaal
sunaata hai kahani
jahaan gaati hai kaali auratein
sohar ke keet
manjeere ke dhun pe, dholak ke taal pe
prem mein jhoomti, naachti
bihad nach

Yah I am the girl.
@ mizfit ok now are we on for some more of it, some more I mean?
@chitra I am cursed with spellings, and your translation is good, just that I wrote the hindi one before I translated it in English to put it in the blog.
and personally i find yours to be a very literal translation of it.

Runa said...

n yah tukun da agree that was a really ugly blog.

Runa said...

n who deleted his/ her comment.

chitra said...

chitra said...

hmm.. all misplaced assumptions occur due to miscommunication.. but then thats the fact of human existence. Sometimes we get carried away by emotion and refuse to acknowledge that there has been a misundertsanding.

Runa said...

HULLO?

NEW POSTS PLS.

SAY SOMETHING ABOUT ME IN YOUR POST.

Runa said...

u have enough people who talk about you, its me everybody should be talking about ...

I have a confession to make to you & I hope you think it's funny. For the longest time on your blog, I thot you were a guy.<---Ha Ha?
I don't know why I made that assumption. Not only a guy but someone older then you are.
I made assumptions based on your posts(of course). Anyway, that's all I have to say about that.

Well, one more thing. I guess I should pay more attention to the 'Profiles', eh?

WHEW! I'm happy to get that off my chest.

Runa said...

hey l>t thats ok, guess the posts on drinking made you assume that...it for sure is funny.
and now that you know it, does that help my blog in anyways?

uglygirl said...

i think this is cos your tukunda personna reflects in your writings.

Runa said...

yah may be that n may be because i myself so much objectify 'black women' in my poetry that she thought it was a man talking...

concerned citizen said...

I'm embarassed. [[[blush]]] Of course you are not the same, now.
I like you fine as a woman. :)

I was wondering back then what the heck was going on w/you & serendipidous(sp).

concerned citizen said...

BTW, I'm trying to get a religious disscusion going on on my blog. It mostly involves The God of Abraham, but, I wouldn't mind a different perspective. You are Hindu, i'm thinking. (but won't assume. :)

Runa said...

ok that was some juicy stuff there betwen me n big mouth haha.
n I am a hindu.

serendipiduous said...

really juicy....

Runa said...

hey l>t forgot to ask why did u think that me n big mouth were having sth between us?

concerned citizen said...

Well, when i thot you were a man...It seemed like a conversation full of flirting. Lots of inuendos(sp?).
Do you know what i mean?
