this Is for All my Male Readers!

I Do sound as if I have ahuge fan following and I am some popular writer. But couldn't get a better title.
This Post is also for all those who are disgusted by the word "feminism".
This way I am also letting you deceide whether you want to read this or not...
This is a lilttle bit of information on about what feminism is not
1. Feminism to start with is not all/only about women out with lathis on the road, bashing up men at every opprtunity.
2. Feminism is also not exclusive of housewives and women who are introvert, non-modern rather traditional.
3. Feminism is also not only about women smoking and drinking.
4. Feminism is not just about "bra burning"
5. Feminism is not synonymous to not understanding things and making an issue out of it all the time.
6. Feminism is not inconsiderate.

and perhaps Feminism should not be a thing of the upper class/ caste women.

Feminism is a better way of living for women!

This and much much more human is feminism!

hope it helps all those who misunderstand it and me too.

Amen!

Once Gunar Myrdal said “there cannot be a viewpoint without a view”… and in a view an ideology is embedded. Any “ism” involves a viewpoint which also means there can be counter view. By saying Feminism… is not this and that, I believe you adhere to this basics.

Runa said...

@bangdoo
ofcourse there exists a counter point as against feminism & just last night I had this wonderful conversation about certain similar stuff.
Agree in pointing out what feminism is not i am strictly sticking to the basics.
but my aim atleast in this post was to give certain prelimnary information bout feminism cause people hate the word without even bothering to know what it is.
Again by this I am not trashing their beliefs but rather stating mine for them to know.

I just posted this comment on your previous post and deleted it...let me type it all over again...

Re-reading this post I felt it should be circulated as widely as it could be

it is simple
it is expressive
it is compelling

and I know it is true from you

Forgot a point...

afterall what ends up is a configuration of words and one who is passionate about language must care for their arrangement irrespective of the content

more so when one reads on the header of your page...
'lets arrange words in a better way'

meanwhile loved the post ...and conveyed it to papa...

Runa said...

& what did he have to say about it? I am sure it must be rather positive but adding second thoughts it might very well be just the opposite.
Love the way you pamper my writing abilities.

you can convey the meaning of something quite clearly without resorting to so many negatives in a sentence.

@ quit touching me
Thanks a lot! hope you read all my posts atleast as many as you can.

Papa is at his best when he writes about a thing, verbally he is so much a storehouse of ideas and opinions that it at times sounds disorienting...same with me.

So wait till a day when he or I write something professionally on your writing

Yes, Indeed. The begining of the Feminism in States and it's echo in France during the 60s and 70's don't have the same definition nowadays.

But, first - women should rise and revendicate their right and put forward the injustice done to them.

When i say this to many lady friends of mine in India. They say like ' oh i have other things to do'...

Cheers
Prash

Runa said...

hey thanks prash
but m really not aware of the context you n your friends had a conversatio. but to me feminism equally means giving women the right to choose what they want in their life, and that might be choosing to have n number of say baths than revendicte their rights...i hope you get my point.

I read through many of your writings and a few of the comments along with. I could feel how you are growing with these words. I still believe words are the most inferior modes of communication and at least mine. So…I don’t know how to say that I want to say. When I write something, I love that creation and juxtaposition of the words, it may or may not create a meaning, it may be for a moment and may not have any great consequence other than my own satisfaction. I could feel almost there in your words. Since… I love my words I become choosy and at times selective. Like for example, a word “fuck” may not appear in my writing unless I am dead convinced that this word has to be there. At the same time using some such words can give a satisfaction of being liberated from the social construct of the words, but that definitely comes later. I make this distinction, of my love for words to create something and to make a point or statement, the second being less prioritised. Yet, I cannot forget the lovely use of certain words in “Anatmakatha”. By saying so…. I don’t know if I am carrying an inherent bias. But I believe… if you believe in what you have created, it is bound to be beautiful.

In this entire process, I don’t know what tone my words are taking, but my consciousness tells me that all these I am telling you because I see the beauty in your words, their juxtapositions and flow. I feel the improvisation of an artist in everything new that you make. And, how better you can be complimented then that you compelled me to write this.

I totally got your point. And i agree with you. You have my solidarity on this point. Women should get what they want and they deserve...

Nicely put. My biggest problem is how feminism has become synonymous with frustration and hatred, especially against men - that, probably, is why it's acquired so many negative connotations. As people seeking equality and an end to oppression, feminists are actually fighting injustice and discrimination at various levels, not all of which are to do exclusively with gender - consider the protests women's organisations make against communal violence, for instance, or caste discrimination. Feminism, to my mind, is actually synonymous with humanism.

Runa said...

yah i would say that too.
